    Description

    Union General Nathaniel Banks Autograph Letter Draft Signed, "N. P. Banks," twice, four pages, 4.5" x 7", New York City, November 6, 1864, to Boston caterer J. B. Smith. This draft letter addresses an overdue bill by saying, "...I was utterly unconscious that you had an claims against me. For the last three years I have given no thought to my affairs in Massachusetts...". Toned paper, bold signatures. Very fine condition. Included with this item are three war date newspaper clippings regarding Banks and a period engraving of the general. From the collection of Henry E. Luhrs.
