Union General John Sedgwick Signed Brady Carte de Visite With Rank. 2.5" x 4", signed on the albumen and mount. Brady photostamp on the front mount; and backmark, "Brady's National Photographic Portrait Galleries...". Sedgwick (1813-1864) served at Seven Pines, Yorktown, was twice wounded at Glendale, and thrice wounded at Gettysburg. He was killed by a sharpshooter at Spotsylvania Court House after chiding his men that the Confederates couldn't "hit an elephant" at that distance. The CDV is near fine; exceptionally clean, save a small black spot at top edge on verso.
