(1) A short letter (October 24, 1864) demanding "Mrs. Coffee" to "deliver at Dr. Shelbys one tenth of your pork Hogs as Tax in kind to the C. S. Government for 1864. . . . [Signed] [Corporal] G[eorge]. W. Drane / C.A." (2) Receipt for "Mrs L. Coffee (500 lbs) . . . of Pork . . . on foot, Tax in kind being one tenth part of her killing hogs" (Bolivar County, Mississippi, October 31, 1864). (3) Receipt for "9 qts Peas, 3 gallons, 2 qts & 1 pt Sorghum" (Gainesville, Alabama, February 15, 1865). Some stains and foxing.
