    Description

    Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson Clipped Signature and Carte de Visite. The signature is on a small slip, 1.5" x 0.75", signed "T.J. Jackson Maj Genl." Mounted on foam board. The signature is accompanied by a General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson Carte de Visite. 2.5" X 4". E. & H.T. Anthony, New York. A bust portrait of Jackson dressed in his Confederate uniform.

    A West Point graduate (Class of 1846), Jackson served in the Mexican War where he first met Robert E. Lee. Jackson went on to become one of the most beloved of all the Confederate generals gaining his nickname 'Stonewall' at 1st Bull Run when Confederate General Barnard Bee seeking to rally his troops spotted General Jackson's gallantry on the field and shouted, "There stands Jackson like a stone wall - rally behind the Virginians!" One of Lee's most trusted generals, Jackson would later be accidentally shot by his own troops at the Battle of Chancellorsville. He had his left arm amputated, and succumbed to pneumonia eight days after the amputation.

    Condition: The signature has slightly uneven edges, with soiling and light toning throughout. The CDV has minor toning and soiling.
