DescriptionThomas F. Drayton Letter Signed. One page, 8" x 7.75", Chafin's Farm [Virginia]; August 12, 1862. The Confederate Brigadier writing to Brigadier-General H. A. Wise regarding a suspicious character he arrested who was claiming to belong to Wise's brigade. Drayton writes in part: "...The prisoner has no pass and says he belongs to your Brigade. Consequently I send him to you, so that you may determine whether or no he belongs to your Brigade. When arrested he was about two miles from your camp, selling chickens." Signed, "Thos. F. Drayton."
