Texas C.S.A. Circular: General Orders No. 13, Signed by Adjutant and Inspector General Jeremiah Y. Dashiell. One page, 5" x 7", "Adjutant General's Office, Austin, April 17, 1862." Jeremiah Yellott Dashiell was a physician, a teacher, a soldier, and the editor of the San Antonio Herald. In 1862, Dashiell was appointed Colonel, Adjutant General, and Inspector General of state troops on the staff of Governor Francis R. Lubbock. In response "to the call of the Governor for fourteen regiments," Dashiell issued this order, noting that "two more camps of instruction will be established; one on the Bosque river, near Waco, and the other on the Leon river, west of San Antonio." The order goes on to assign the fourteen regiments as follows: "At Houston, Austin and Hempstead, three regiments each; at Waco, two regiments; at Tyler, Victoria and San Antonio, one regiment each." Signed in brown ink "J.Y. Dashiell." Document is bright and sharp; very fine.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
