Stonewall Jackson War-dated Signature From the Personal Collection of Blockade Runner J. William Bushby. Signature "T. J. Jackson" on a long slip of paper, 7.75" x .75". Bushby has noted to the left of the signature: "General Stonewall Jackson's autograph, obtained at his Head Quarters Moss Neck on the Rappahannock, 31st Jan 7, 1863."

Together with an Autograph Letter Signed by Alexander R. Boteler to Bushby. One page, 7.75" x 10", "House of Representatives Richmond," January 28, 1863. In this letter, he informs Bushby that he is enclosing "a letter of introduction [not included] to Lieut. Gen. Jackson," hoping that Bushby's "proposed visit to the Army may be pleasant to yourself and the other gentlemen in your party." It was likely during this visit that Bushby obtained Jackson's signature, offered here. When the war began, Boteler served on Stonewall Jackson's staff, but was soon elected to represent Virginia in the Confederate House of Representatives from 1862-1864.

Condition: Both signature and letter are very clean with bold ink and flattened folds.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
