    Description

Robert E. Lee Photograph. Black and white photograph, measures 6.75" x 8.75", signed by Harry B. Hawes as "Regards from Harry B. Hawes." Harry B. Hawes represented the state of Missouri as both a congressman and a Senator. Hawes was a member of the Robert E. Lee Memorial Association along with his wife. This is likely why he would have this photograph in his possession. It is not stated to whom he gave this photograph, however, it is one of the finer Robert E. Lee photographs we have seen. Lee is pictured standing next to a small table with a curtain backdrop. He is wearing a dark suit and bow tie. It invokes the same majesty and dignity of the Abraham Lincoln photograph known as the "Solitary Pine."

The photograph is in very fine condition; it is handsomely framed and matted to a full size of 13" x 15.5".
