    Robert E. Lee Autograph Note Signed " R E Lee", one page, 3.25" x 4.75", Louisville, Kentucky, May 7, 1855. A trained Army engineer and veteran administrator, the future Confederate general was given command of a cavalry regiment bound for the Texas frontier. This ANS, written as a brevet colonel shortly after taking the assignment, reads in full, "Hd qrs 2 Cavy Louisville 7 May 1855 Bt Col R E Lee Lt Col 2 Cavy Requisition for clothing for Comps 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D' & 'K' 2nd Regt of Cavy". Very Fine condition. Framed with biographical plate and colored lithograph portrait of Lee in Confederate uniform. 16" x 18" overall. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
