    Richard E. Byrd Typed Letter Signed "R E Byrd." One page, 8.5" x 11", Boston, November 7, 1939, to E. W. Parks thanking him for a shipment of belts for his third Antarctic expedition, in part: "It is more than generous of you to offer to supply some belts four our trip...the NORTH STAR, will probably leave the latter part of this week, but the BEAR will undoubtedly be here until the middle of November." Byrd's involvement in the expedition was cut short a few months later after he was recalled to active duty in the U.S. Navy. Smoothed folds; light foxing.
