Revolutionary War Muster Roll of Captain Thomas Theodore Bliss, Signed by Brigadier General James Clinton. One page, penned on recto and verso, 13" x 7.75", n.p., December 12, 1777. Captain Thomas Bliss held two commissions as Captain during the Revolutionary War - one from the Congress of Massachusetts Bay and the other from the Continental Congress. Although brave and efficient, Bliss was an unlucky officer. On the first campaign into Canada, he was taken prisoner by the English at Three Rivers with all his company, and was held prisoner during the war, confined at one point in the vaults of the old Trinity Church in New York City. He was not released until British forces evacuated New York after the peace. Document bears the names of the men in Bliss' artillery company, "Commanded by Col. John Lamb," and is boldly signed on verso "James Clinton B.Gen.l." Also signed on recto by Henry Rutgers as Drill Master, who, after the war, donated a $5000 bond to Queen's College in New Brunswick, NJ. In gratitude, the school's trustees renamed the school Rutgers College. Light toning and significant areas of fold separation.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
