    Philip Schuyler Autograph Letter Signed "Ph: Schuyler," one page with integral cover, 7" x 11.5" (sight). A letter to his son-in-law Stephen Van Rensselaer, III regarding the estate of a fellow family member. In part: "General Rensselaer is come up to divide the personal estate of his Father. Mrs. Schuyler insist upon my being present I suppose to afford some protection against the old lady..." Mrs. Schuyler, his wife, was Catherine Van Rensselaer, daughter of Johannes Van Rensselaer. They had 15 children, including a daughter Margaret, who married the recipient of this letter.
    Condition: Flattened mail folds, with a separation occurring at top horizontal fold. Stray ink stains, and a few very lightly written notations in pencil by a previous collector. Matted and framed with double glass so that the address cover is visible on verso. Letter is mounted with Mylar corners. Integral cover has paper loss where seal has been removed to open the letter. Overall size is 13.5" x 17.75".
