Paul Revere Autograph Document Twice Signed. One page, 4.25" x 6.5", Boston, October 21, 1792. Paul Revere, patriot and skilled gold and silversmith, penned this invoice (which is accomplished entirely in his hand) for payment on services rendered to Benjamin Henderson between September 5, 1791, and April 11, 1792, and include "mending pin ball," "Silver Thimble," "Engravg Creampot," and "mending peper [sic] box." The total amount due for the work was five pounds, nineteen shillings, and seven pence. Below the itemized statement Revere has written (and signed a second time, the first signature appearing in the first line): "Received the above in full." Docketed on the verso. Smoothed folds. Chipped edges are moderately soiled. Some fading to text, including Revere's second signature. Small pinhole near upper right corner, but not affecting the text.

Following the war, Paul Revere (1734-1818), a former colonel in the Massachusetts militia, returned to his antebellum trade of metal working. In 1788, using profits from his silverwork, he opened an iron foundry where he produced fastenings used in the building of ships and cannons, moving on to bell casting by 1792. In 1801 he opened America's first copper rolling mill.
