Lt. General Wade Hampton III: War-date Document Signed. 7.75" x 6.5" manuscript document on blue laid paper, 1p., Camp Wigfall [Virginia], December 31, 1861, signed "Wade Hampton Col. Com." He authorizes some changes to the quarterly return submitted by Col W. H. Bachman. "... drop from his quarterly return... two wall tents and flag poles and pins for same, said tents having been condemned by board of survey and Sibley tents issued in their place, the old tents not being worth cost of transportation." Docketed on verso with two areas of loss not affecting text. Hampton (1818-1902) was perhaps the largest slaveholder in the South and had a brilliant military career rising, along with Nathan Bedford Forrest, to the rank of Lieutenant General. He served with both Stonewall Jackson and Jeb Stuart in many of the decisive battles of the war, being wounded multiple times and losing two sons to the Cause on the same day. He was elected Governor of South Carolina in 1876 and later served in the United States Senate.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
