Goliad Massacre: "List of Texans Murdered by order of Santa Anna at Goliad Tex March 27, 1836." Six lined pages, 8.5" x 13.75", n.p., n.d. Each page, except the final, contains two columns listing the names of men killed at the Goliad Massacre. The first name listed is James W. Fannin Jr. On page six, the original recorder of this list offers a tally of "358." Three names in the lists have been struck through. With folds on toned paper. Two staples in the top margin.

On March 19, 1836, Colonel James Fannin, in the path of a Texas invasion by Mexican General José de Urrea, began a retreat from his defensive position at Goliad. Urrea's force soon caught up to the Texans and engaged them in the Battle of Coleto. Overwhelmed, Fannin surrendered. The Mexicans took their prisoners back to Goliad where the Texans were executed by order of Antonio López de Santa Anna on March 27, 1836, twenty-one days after the Battle of the Alamo. The fall of the Alamo and the Goliad Massacre aroused the fury of the people of Texas, the United States, and even Great Britain and France, thus promoting the success of the Texas Revolution.
