    General William S. Rosecrans Cabinet Card Signed "W.S. Rosecrans Brig. Maj. Gen. U.S.A." 4.25" x 6.5" black and white cabinet card signed on the verso to a Mrs. Cornelius O'Connor. Bradley & Rulofson of San Francisco produced the cabinet card. General Rosecrans commanded the 23rd Ohio Infantry during the Civil War; from this regiment two men who would rise to become presidents: Rutherford B. Hayes and William McKinley. Rosecrans served in several commands and regiments during the war, and was a successful general. This photograph is of an older Rosecrans, no doubt taken postwar.

    The cabinet card is in very fine condition; small tear on the left edge, does not effect the image; slight staining on the right edge in the white portion of the card. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
