General Randolph Marcy: One Autograph Letter Signed and One Carte de Visite. The letter, one page, 4.75" x 7.75", Washington, September 27, 1861, to J.J.B. Wright: "Genl. McClellan has today recommended Captain Stanley for a Brigadier General." In addition to being McClellan's chief of staff, Marcy (1812-1887) was also his father-in-law. With a 2.25" x 3.75" photograph from a Mathew Brady negative of a heavily whiskered Marcy, sitting in uniform with arms crossed. E. & H.T. Anthony backstamp. Very good or better.
