General Philip H. Sheridan: War-date Autograph Letter Signed with Two Cartes de Visite. 5" x 7.25" ALS, 1p., n.p., February 15, 1865, written to fellow-General Wesley Merritt, in full: "My Dear Merritt If you desire to go to Baltimore for a day or so come on - I will start from here at 11 o'clock. You can go with me. P. H. Sheridan Maj Genl". Twelve days after writing this letter, in response to an order from Ulysses S. Grant, Sheridan sent a 10,000 man cavalry force under General Merritt to destroy the Virginia Central Railroad and the James River Canal. Sheridan's troops began marching east towards Petersburg. On March 2nd, he defeated Jubal Early at Waynesboro. Paper remnants on verso from prior mounting in an album. Clean overall with strong signature. Sold together with an Anthony marked CDV of Sheridan in his most famous pose (minor pin pricks at top extremity) and a CDV of an engraving of Sheridan (paper remnants at front top corners).

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
