    General Orion A. Bartholomew Autograph Letter Signed "Orion." Three integral pages, 5" x 8", [Virginia], April 30, 1865. Writing to his sister, Bvt. Brig. Gen. Bartholomew, of the 109th U.S. Colored Troops, praises his men during the Appomattox Campaign: "The colored troop were upon the left of the line during the attack and participated We then followed Lee army [sic] to Appomatox [sic] court House where he surrendered." Bartholomew (1837-1919) mustered out of the army in March 1866 and practiced law in Iowa. Folds, else fine.
