    General John R. Kenly Signature and Carte de Visite. Two items, as follows: (1) A 4.125" x 2.5" card bearing a neat and clear ink signature "John R Kenly/ Bt Major Genl Vols". (2) A vignette head and shoulders portrait from E. & H. T. Anthony. A lawyer by trade, Kenly served in the Mexican-American War and entered the Civil War as colonel of the 1st Regiment Maryland Volunteer Infantry. He was wounded and taken prisoner at Front Royal by Stonewall Jackson, was exchanged, and served through the end of the war in various commands. Light stains on both affecting nothing, very fine.
