General James B. McPherson Signature with Three Civil War-Period Cartes de Visite. Four items total, as follows: (1) A 4.5" x 1.75" ink signature excised from a document, signed "Yours Respectfully/ Jas B McPherson/ Maj.Gen". (2-4) Three similar head and shoulder vignettes in uniform. One identifies him in an unknown hand as "Comdr 17th Army Corps" (1862-1864) on the front, no backmark. The others do have backmarks, "The New York Photographic Co" and "Landy Photographer" (Cincinnati). McPherson was killed at the Battle of Atlanta, the second highest ranking Union officer killed during the war. Our currency-collecting readers will likely recognize these photos from his appearance on a rare and desirable $2 1890 Treasury Note (Fr. 353). All very fine.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
