Inscribed, "To Gen. Vandenberg/ from/ G. S. Patton, Jr." Army General Patton was a strong force behind the American WWII campaigns in North Africa, Sicily, France, and Germany. Air Force General Hoyt Vandenberg commanded the Ninth Air Force, which supported the army in England and France. Vandenberg Air Force Base in California is named in honor of the general. After the war in 1946, Vandenberg became the Director of Central Intelligence. Very fine.
