    General George E. Pickett Endorsement Signed. 2.5" x 2" (sight). Written nearly five months after his ill-fated charge at the Battle of Gettysburg, the general endorses the verso of a larger document, in full: "Hd. Qurs. Dept. N.C. / Nov. 23d 1863 / Reply forwarded / Approved / [signed] G E Pickett / Maj. Genl / Comdg." At the time of the writing, Pickett was in command of the Department of Southern Virginia and North Carolina. Some ink bleed through from the verso. Matted with an engraved portrait of Pickett to an overall size of 13.5" x 10".
