Gen. William T. Sherman Letter Signed "W. T. Sherman". One page, 8" x 10", Army Building New York, February 17, 1888, written to F. N. Barrett, Editor of the American Grocer, correcting Barrett's "impressions" on the Civil War Battle of Franklin. Light age-toning; fine.

    More Information:

Barrett wrote a "very kind letter" of "very flattering criticism" about a recent article on the Battle of Franklin written by Sherman in the Century Magazine, but, according to this letter written by Sherman, "The impressions you [Barrett] formed relative to the battle of Franklin are not in the main correct." From there in the letter, Sherman corrects Barrett on the specifics of the 1864 Tennessee battle.
