    Franz Sigel Group Lot of Six Autographs. Includes four post-war Autographs Letters Signed, one clipped signed, and one partial document signed. Routine content sending thanks, or declining/accepting invitations.

    Franz Sigel (1824-1902) was a German military officer and revolutionary who migrated to the United States and became a newspaperman, politician, and officer in the U. S. Army. In appreciation of his ability to recruit German immigrants into the Union Army, Sigel was made a Major General. Following the Civil War, he served in numerous political roles and was publisher and editor of the New York Monthly.

    Condition: Usual mail folds, some tears and separations at edges. Light toning, especially at edges. Small amount of paper loss on the edges of some documents. Some pencil notations on a few of the letters.
