Forbes N. Britton Autograph Letter Signed, "F Britton". One page, 8.0" x 10.0", Comargo, Mexico May 4, 1847, to Captain H. Toulman, Comargo. Virginian, West Pointer and Mexican War veteran Forbes Britton settled in Corpus Christi, Texas to pursue a life of business and politics. A proponent of rail construction, Forbes served in the State Senate, was an associate of Sam Houston's, and was even commissioned a brigadier general while serving as Houston's Chief of Staff. Britton's death in 1861 precluded any Civil War service. The Mexican War letter offered here is a brief communique and reads, "I will send a clerk to assignate the Sup't but I wish the Q Master to understand that the Army does not deliver the stores on the other side but the articles should be Rec'vd by the Q Master from my sheds by that Dept transported but after leaving my shed I cannot have any control over them". Short pencil notation in upper margin, else Very Fine condition. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
