    Eighteen Revolutionary War Connecticut Pay Vouchers, dated 1775-1783. Eleven are partially printed and seven are manuscripts. The pay vouchers are for several different people, including Captain James Beebe; Josiah Read; James Burton; Captain Ebenezer Mosely; Caleb Else "Dec'd"; William Walley Springer; "the Selectmen of Plainfield . . . for Service & Expense of Capt. Andrew Buckner[?] and the company under him"; "Lt. Lee Lay Paymaster of a Company raised for Defence of Sea Coast at Lyme"; "Daniel Clark Lieutenant of the first Company in Plainsfield"; and "Capt. Saml. Squire Company." Some bear soiling and paper repairs. The American Revolution began early for Connecticut when the colonial legislature authorized six regiments. Throughout the war, Connecticut contributed many men to military effort. From the Donald P. Dow Collection.
