Edward W. Gantt Autograph Court Document Signed "E. W. Gantt / Pros Att." One page (laid paper), 7.75" x 12.5", Hempstead County, Arkansas, "December Term A.D. 1857." The future Confederate leader has written and signed this Grand Jury report indicting Lervis Levinson of selling alcohol to a slave. Levinson, using "force and arms in the county aforesaid , did then & there sell ardent spirits to 'Martin' a negro slave the property of Calvin G. Heanvy without first having obtained permission of said Calvin G. Heanvy or of any mistress or overseer . . . contrary to the statute and against the peace and dignity of the state of Arkansas."

Three years after writing this document, Gantt helped convince his fellow Arkansans to secede from the Union and join the Confederacy. He was quickly elected a colonel by rebel soldiers. In 1863, he had a change of heart and swore his allegiance to the Union, becoming a champion for the reunification of the Union. This document contains docketing on the verso. Slight discoloration along one fold.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
