Description
Edward Burleson Signed Order. One page, 7.5" x 9.5"; San Antonio de Bexar; March 29, 1842. And I further hereby positively order that no man shall be at liberty to kill milch cows. The supplies must come through the quartermaster department. Edward Burleson."Burleson had raised volunteers in San Antonio in response to the invasion of Mexican forces under Rafael Vásquez. As a seasoned veteran of the Revolution, he was elected their commander and would go on to give an impassioned speech at the Alamo. Houston, who was then president, sent Alexander Somervell to take over Burleson's command. This order would have been issued in the brief period Burleson had command of the volunteer forces.
