    Description

Confederate Texas Ranger: Soldier's Letter. Two pages, 7.5" x 12", New Iberia, September 26, 1861. The soldier, Private J. B. Cowan of Captain Stephen C. Ferrell's company, was marching from Niblett's Bluff to Richmond when he wrote this interesting account of his journey - "12 days of the worst Traveling I Ever Experienced." As his unit neared New Orleans, he wrote, "Wee Had Some amusement crossing the praeries: in the way of Ropeing oxen . . . Wee Have Some good Ropers in the company." Minor discolored spots along the edges due to tape residue.
