Description
Confederate General John Pegram Clipped Signature "Jno. Pegram/ Brig Gen'l". Pegram was a West Point graduate who entered Confederate service as a Lt. Colonel. He was captured at Rich Mountain, making him the first former U.S. army officer to be captured while in Confederate service. He was paroled in exchange for a Union officer and later fought at Murfreesboro and Chickamauga. He was killed in actions at Hatcher's Run on February 6, 1865.
