Confederate General Felix Kirk Zollicoffer Autograph Endorsement Signed "FK Zollicoffer." One page, 7.5" x 9.75", "Camp Buckner", Kentucky; October 8, 1861. Zollicoffer signs and approves of a request from Frank N. McNairy, who wrote: "Edward D. Hicks Adjutant Major of this Battalion having tendered his resignation is hereby granted leave of absence until his resignation is accepted." Zollicoffer endorses: "Approved for ten days unless the resignation is accepted sooner. Octr 8, 1861." The letter is mounted on a thicker card, measuring 7.75" x 10" overall.

Felix Kirk Zollicoffer (1812-1862) was a prominent Tennessee politician and newspaper publisher prior to joining the Confederate Army. His military career was cut short, however, when he was shot at the Battle of Mill Spring on the morning of January 19, 1862. In a fatal case of mistaken identity, Zollicoffer mistook the Union 4th Kentucky Infantry Regiment for some of his blue-clad Confederates.

Condition: Flattened folds, with small separations and holes at the folds and edges. Uneven left edge. Ink stain at the top, with bleed through over Zollicoffer's signature. Light warping from the adhesive.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
