Civil War: Logan, Kelley, and Schenck Signed Carte de Visites. Collection of three carte de visite photographs, each displayed in a 5" x 6.25" ornately gilt-bordered card and signed beneath the image: "John A. Logan," "Wm D. Kelley," and "Robt. C. Schenck/Ohio" (slightly smudged). Gen. John A. Logan served in the Mexican and Civil Wars, represented Illinois in the U.S. Senate, and ran for V.P. in 1884. William D. Kelley represented Pennsylvania in Congress from 1861-1890. Robert C. Schenck represented Ohio in Congress from 1863-1871 and served as U.S. Minister to Brazil and Great Britain. The opening displaying the photograph is 2" x 3.25" with a curved top. There are two cards in this lot; the Logan and Kelley are back to back, and the Schenck and an unsigned George H. Thomas are back-to-back. Each card is one-sixteenth of an inch thick and can carefully be split. The carte de visite had to have been placed in the openings separately before they were attached to each other. Fine condition.
