    Description

    Charles Stewart, Captain of the U.S.S. Constitution Autograph Letter Signed "C. L. Stewart". One page, 4.75" x 7.25", Bordentown, May 10, 1861, to James Blaylock, Philadelphia. The former captain and naval hero of the War of 1812 writes a letter of introduction which reads in part: "The bearer R. W. Roberts wishes an introduction to you, he will make known to you his object I have therefor [sic] the pleasure to Introduce him to your notice." Slightly soiled at the folds, else fine. From the collection of Henry E. Luhrs.
