    Captain Basil Hall Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 3.5" x 4.5", Southsea [England], November 2, 1840, to a Mr. Herbert acknowledging that he has lent his "...copy of Combe's Principles of Physiology applied to health & Education...but you will easily get it in London." Hall (1788-1844) was a Royal Navy officer who served during the Napoleonic Wars. He interviewed Napoleon in 1817 and published several works including "Travels in North America," which caused a stir due to his negative depiction of American society. Mounted to a backing sheet to an overall size of 5" x 4.75".
