    Description

Bushrod Washington Signature and Autograph Letter Signed. Bushrod Washington was the nephew of George Washington and inherited Mount Vernon from Washington. Later, he would serve as a Supreme Court Justice. The letter presented here is one page, 7.25" x 9", Walnut Farm, Virginia, June 12, 1802. It reads, "Judge Washington presents his most respectful compliments to Mons. Pichon, and requests the favor of him to forward to Ge. Lafayette the enclosed letter by the first conveyance." He signs the letter in the third person. The signature measures 3.25" x 1.5", and reads "Respectfully yours Bush. Washington."

Both items are in fine condition; the letter has the usual folds and has been tipped into another sheet of paper; the letter has small areas of redox spots on the lower right edge; the signature has been clipped from a larger document and also has several visible folds. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
