    Benjamin F. Butler: 1864 Endorsement Signed and Cartes-de-Visite. CDV of seated Butler in civilian clothing (red border, Anthony/Brady back mark), highly unusual CDV of standing Butler in military uniform (E. Jacobs of New Orleans back mark, thumb tack hole at top, irregular trimming at bottom), another unusual view of seated Butler in profile with Gurney & Son photographer's credit and back mark (very small abrasion in coat, light soiling). Sold with a 6.5" x 5.5" folded document on lined paper with three massages or short notes, including an endorsement signed "Benj. F. Butler". A report of Captain Samuel C. Hart is being forwarded from Brigadier General Heckman to Major John Caswells to General Butler to Brigadier General Patrick. Folds reinforced with thin, old paper tape. Glue discoloration on verso from prior mounting in an album. The Butler signature is nice and bold.
