    Autograph Letter Signed to General Daniel Ruggles. One and on-half pages, 6" x 9" (left edge is untrimmed and width varies), on brown paper, Tupelo [Mississippi], February, 1, 1863. The letter describes information on enemy troop locations from different scouts.

    General Daniel Ruggles (1810-1897) was a brigadier general in the Confederate Army. He commanded a division at the Battle of Shiloh where he oversaw the largest concentration of artillery ever assembled, 62 guns placed in a row, to batter the Union line known as the "Hornet's Nest."
