    Description

    [Texian Revolution]. George W. Poe Document Signed. One page, 5.25" x 4", issued to Anthony Ostroske, September 9, 1836. A soldier's pay voucher for five month's pay, totaling forty-five dollars, and signed by George Washington Poe. Born in Ohio, Poe enlisted in the Texian army after arriving in Texas in 1834. He served as acting adjutant general for Sam Houston, and in 1836, was appointed paymaster general. During the Texian Revolution, Poe was fiercely loyal to Houston.

    Condition: Smoothed folds, with scattered foxing and even toning throughout.
