    [Texas Rangers]. A. W. Cady Promissory Note Signed. 8" x 4", Corpus Christi [Texas], June 19, 1849. Cady, a former third sergeant in the Texas Rangers during the Mexican War, had been discharged for unsoldierly conduct earlier in December 1847. In this note, he acknowledges "to owe Mr. W. L. Rogers the sum of twelve dollars wh. I will pay him when I receive certain monies due to me at this moment or at the very latest when I settle for my three months service in the Rangers." Folds, toning, and minor foxing.
