    [Texas C.S.A.] General Orders No. 118, Issued by Major General J. Bankhead Magruder. Two pages, 5.75" x 7.75", "Head Quarters, District of Texas, new Mexico and Arizona. Houston, Texas, July 15th, 1863." Lengthy list of fifteen orders concerns "The State troops called into service, under the Proclamation of the Governor, dated June 8th, 1863." Magruder issues instructions to organize the troops "into companies of not less than sixty-five men. . . . They will be organized into battalions comprising Cavalry and Infantry . . . the Ass't Quartermaster, will . . . proceed at once to provide for the troops. . . . It shall be the duty of the Lieutenant Colonel or Major commanding, to assign squads from the Infantry and Cavalry to one week of service in camp each, commencing on the 17th of August, 1863." Additional orders provide details about how furloughs are to be issued, and what sort of drills and training the troops will undergo while in camp. Signed in type on verso: "Maj. Gen. J. Bankhead Magruder." Faint age toning. In very fine condition.
