    [Sam Bell Maxey]. General Rice Maxey Autograph Document Signed. Five pages, 8" x 12.5", Lamar County, Texas, April 9, 1868, regarding the receipt of a "deed of trust on . . . twenty seven hundred and thirty seven acres to secure F E. Udel in the payment of fifteen hundred dollars." Signed a total of five times. Maxey (1800-1878), a former general in the Kentucky militia, came to Texas in 1857 and practiced law with his son, Confederate General Sam Bell Maxey. He served in the Texas Senate from 1863 until 1866. Folds. Areas of ink smudging. Some separation of the folds on the final page.
