    Description

[Revolutionary War Orders]. Jeronimus Hoogland Autograph Document Signed. One page, 8.5" x 13.25", Bedford [New York], October 16, 1778. Here, Hoogland conveying "Orders for the Officers who command the Partys of Horse on King Street Road," with directions for the mounted dragoons on patrol. The order marks clearly the boundaries for patrol and urges them to make "...your Quarters at some convenient Place as near that Road a[s] the Safety of your Party will Admit..." and "...in Case the Enemy should advance you will Imedietly [sic] send...to Gl. Scott and to the Party of Horse near Wrights Mills..." Edges are heavily chipped. The document is unevenly toned overall with several spots of foxing. Some separation along the folds has resulted in small holes with no loss of text.
