    Description

    [Revolutionary War] Autograph Document Authorizing Payment of $620 Dollars to Soldiers For Back Pay Signed by Major General William Heath. Two pages, 8.5" x 12.25", on the verso and recto of a single leaf, Boston, July 1, 1777. The document reads, in part:

    "Sir, Pay Major Nathaniel Barber Six Hundred Twenty Dollars for himself and the use John Austin & Saml. Lord in full of their Wages from Jany. 1 to July 1st 1777, agreeable to the with Account for which this shall be your judgment warrants."

    The document is signed by Nathaniel Barber, Jr., Ebenezer Hancock (as Deputy Paymaster General), Seth Loring and Major General William Heath. Moderately toned, with ragged edges only slightly affecting text, and with the usual fold creases, else very good.
