    [Mexican War]. William Bliss Orders Signed, "By order of Brig. Genl. [Zachary] Taylor / W. W. Bliss / Asst. Adjt. Genl." One page, 7.75" x 9.5", "Hd Qrs Army of Occupation, Fort Polk, Texas," May 12, 1846. These "Orders No. 60" rename "the work constructed at this place" to Fort Polk "As a mark of respect to the Chief Magistrate of the Republic." Very clean with smoothed folds. All text and signature are bold and clear. The document is tipped in to a smaller paperboard (8.25" x 5") along the document's middle horizontal fold.
