    [Mexican War]. General William J. Worth Letter Signed "W. S. Worth Brig. Genl." One page of one leaf, 8" x 10", "Hd. Qrs. 2d Division, Monterey," November 5, 1846, ordering "Senor Alcalde" to send a courier to Saltillo. The letter reads in full: "You will be pleased immediately to dispatch a courier to Saltillo to announce the approach of an American Field Officer bearing[?] of dispatches from the General in Chief of the American forces to the General in in Chief of the Army of Mexico, in order that the proper authority may give direction for his safe conduct." Clear, bold signature. Smoothed folds. Three small binding holes at the left edge.
