"Mad" Anthony Wayne Autograph Document Signed "Anty Wayne." One page, 7.75" x 6", December, 1772. A survey and description of land in the County of Chester, in the "province of Pennsylvania". This early document dates from Anthony Wayne's early career as a surveyor, a profession he followed until his entry into Pennsylvania politics. The document reads, in part:

"Draught of a lot of wool land situate in Lower Chichester in the County of Chester & Province of Pennsylvania being part of the Estate late of Thomas Robinson Esq. The soil is good but the woodland much culled ...".

Wayne would go on to play a prominent military role in the American Revolutionary War where his military prowess and lack of fear earned him the sobriquet "Mad" Anthony Wayne. The paper is uniformly toned and the document bears the usual old, smoothed fold creases, else it a bright, legible example in near fine condition.
