    Description

    [Horatio Gates] Period Fair-Copy of Revolutionary War-dated Report to Horatio Gates. One page, 7.25" x 12.5", "Camp Bristol," August 4, 1779, signed "G.L.J. Sherburne." Sherburne gives "the most perfect & accurate Acct" that he could "respecting the Sheep taken off Mason's Neck (in the Township of Warren) together with The Conduct of The Inhabitants." On the verso, Sherburne has penned, "Copy of a Letter to General Gates Respecting the Transactions On Masons Neck Aug 4th 1779." The document is uniformly foxed with light staining. Tipped along the left edge onto heavy stock paper.
