    [Civil War]. Union Major Robert Anderson Signature. "Robert Anderson / Major U.S.A." One page of one leaf, 3.75" x 6", Fort Sumter, South Carolina, February 26, 1861, to G. N. Gerard of Newburgh, New York. Major Anderson surrendered Fort Sumter to the Rebels on April 14, 1861, less than two months after signing this. Smoothed folds and clean. Tipped along its left edge to a slightly larger backing.
