    Description

    [Civil War] Unidentified Union Soldier's Autograph Letter. Two pages, 7.75" x 12", "Davis Mills" [Mississippi], November 14, 1862, to his mother. In the letter, he describes the work he is assigned to. It reads in part: "You will be surprised when you recieve [sic] this to hear that I have turned out to be a miller. I was sent out here by Col Loomis by order of Genl Stanly last Friday...I am running two Mills...The Mills belong to a Mr. Davis a Secessionist." Some minor foxing and folds. Else fine.
